Summary
The Texas Immersive Institute (TXI) has worked with VR headset maker HTC to develop seven virtual worlds for the latter’s Viverse platform.
TXI is an educational initiative at the University of Texas focused on game development.
Five of the Viverse projects were created by students in an Experimental Storytelling course, while two further advanced projects were developed by the TXI Lab team.
TXI chose the Viverse platform as it is accessible via a web browser, thus allowing students to focus on telling stories via VR, rather than the technology itself.
“Students aren’t just building virtual spaces—they’re learning to think spatially, collaborate cross-functionally, and design experiences with real-world impact,” said TXI founding director Erin Reilly.
