On 2 May, Google announced a host of new AI tools and services at its I/O developers’ conference, including enhanced large language models, a new search tool, and a subscription tier for advanced AI tools.
The company’s large language models, Gemini Pro and Flash, will be updated to Gemini 2.5, with the Flash version rolled out in early June and Pro following shortly after.
The new versions will feature a mode called Deep Think, which can complete complex tasks by using parallel thinking techniques.
Google is also rolling out its AI search mode to all US users, after it was previously limited to Labs testers, and has announced an array of new features for it, including Deep Search, Live capabilities, and personalised options.
In line with these updates, Google also unveiled its new AI filmmaking tool, Flow, and its new image generation model, Imagen.
Furthermore, the company announced that its experimental 3D video calling technology, Project Starline, is evolving into a product called Google Beam.
