Summary
Nvidia has opened its Global Research and Development Centre for Business by Quantum AI Technology (G-QuAT), which houses the ABCI-Q, the largest research supercomputer dedicated to quantum computing globally.
The ABCI-Q is integrated with Nvidia’s CUDA-Q and a host of quantum processors from Fujitsu, QuEra and OptQC, allowing for hybrid quantum GPU workload across multiple quantum qubit modalities, with the aim of speeding the path to practical use cases and realising the promise of quantum computing.
“Seamlessly coupling quantum hardware with AI supercomputing will accelerate realising the promise of quantum computing for all,” said Tim Costa from Nvidia.
The centre will look to continue collaborating with AIST to develop areas like quantum error correction and applications, which will be key to building practical accelerated quantum supercomputers. who are all looking to get an edge in the quantum arms race that has been ramping up over the past few years.
