Meta is partnering with Midjourney and will license its technology for ‘future models and products’

Summary
Midjourney, a San Francisco-based AI startup that provides image and video generation services, has partnered with Meta, for access to its Superintelligence Labs (MSL).
Midjourney will “license their aesthetic technology for our future models and products, bringing beauty to billions,” said Alexandr Wang, Meta’s chief AI officer, in a statement on social network X.
The partnership comes after Meta split its AI work into four tracks: research, training, product, and infrastructure, as it looks to develop personalised artificial superintelligence for each user.
It is unclear how much the deal is worth, however, it is believed that Wang highlighted Midjourney’s excellence in achieving “true feats of technical and aesthetic excellence”, and viewed the partnership as an opportunity to use that expertise in Meta’s AI systems.
