While some people and sectors are embracing the technology and finding it navigable and even exciting, others are unsure how or whether to invest in it because the future is so uncertain, and they risk being left behind.
The development of AI remains fragile as the technology remains unreliable, with chatbots often producing erroneous answers to even simple questions.
Unless this changes, it is likely that another “AI winter”, with reduced funding and interest in the technology, could follow, particularly as public faith in AI is low in some territories, and without trust the technology will not succeed.
However, Grossman added that the pace of development is such that even if progress stopped tomorrow, the impact of what has already been achieved will be felt for years.
