Summary
Following agreement between the Screen Actors Guild-American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) and video game companies, a new contract has been agreed that will raise compensation for voice actors in video games.
The deal, which has yet to be ratified, will raise compensation for actors by over 24% and includes minimum payment guarantees, as well as ensuring that actors are appropriately paid when a game is re-used.
Other gains include increased contribution rates to the SAG-AFTRA Health Plan, as well as important safety provisions, such as the requirement that a qualified medical professional should be present at all rehearsals and performances that involve hazardous actions or working conditions.
The organisation represents around 160,000 media professionals in the US and was preparing for a strike before the deal was reached.
