Summary
During the Augmented World Expo, Ziad Asghar, the senior vice president of XR & spatial computing at Qualcomm unveiled the firms Snapdragon AR1+ Gen 1 processor, and revealed the demo, which allowed an audience to interact with an AI assistant through a pair of RayNeo X3 Pro smart glasses, was the first in the world to be powered entirely by a pair of smart glasses.
Asghar demonstrated requesting recipe information for fettuccine alfredo from the glasses while on stage, with the AI assistant providing him with an answer.
The new AR1+ Gen 1 processor is 26% smaller than previous versions, enhancing image quality, and the ability to run small language models (SLMs).
Asghar predicted that in the future AI glasses will not need to be paired with phones or the cloud, and expressed confidence that the firm was preparing for a “multifaceted future” with a range of devices.
