At its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) this week, Apple announced a new app, Games, which will serve as a central hub for all things gaming on its devices, eventually replacing the existing Game Centre app.
The app will come pre-installed on Apple devices and include various features such as the ability to browse the games section of the app store, an Apple Arcade tab, and a library of games you own as well as leaderboards and game invites.
Challenges allow users to compete with friends in single-player games and see real-time scores, while a “home” tab will show users relevant info such as events and recommendations.
The app will be available on Mac computers for the first time, including new functionality such as a game overlay feature.
Apple has also announced several updates to its MacOS Tahoe operating system, including tweaks to its Metal graphics API and updates to its Facetime app.
