Summary

  • On Earth Day this year, Day Zero Productions and Anima Interactive held a game jam, inviting participants to create inspiring video games with eco-conscious themes, in alignment with the solarpunk movement.
  • The winners of the competition have now been announced and the $10,000 grand prize has been awarded to Solar Salvage, a vehicle building and exploration game from Nattland Interactive in Sweden and 707 Heaven in Norway.
  • The two other finalists, Banyu and Sky Patch, will also be showcased at this year’s Summer Games Fest, which aims to highlight the next generation of eco-conscious gamers.
  • “Solarpunk is still a fairly nascent movement, and this game jam has helped push the movement forward, demonstrating how video games can bring its ideals to life,” said Karla Reyes, founder and creative director at Anima Interactive.
