The Nintendo Switch 2 is set to launch tomorrow and Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang has posted a celebratory video in which he pays tribute to the machine and its main processor, the T239 chip.
Huang reveals that the original Nintendo Switch’s vision came from then CEO Satoru Iwata, who wanted to create a console that was both powerful enough for big games but also small enough to take anywhere, and that Nvidia’s design team poured “everything” into the machine.
The new Switch 2’s custom Nvidia processor has an Ampere-based GPU with 1,536 CUDA cores, runs at 1GHz when docked and 561MHz when mobile, and a memory interface of 128-bit LPDDR5.
It features ray tracing, high dynamic range, backward compatibility and dedicated AI chips for real-time gameplay.
“This chip is a technical marvel. It delivers performance, intelligence and beauty in the palm of your hand,” says Huang.
