Summary
The automotive industry is forming the OpenGMSL Association, which is seeking to become an open industry standard for in-vehicle connectivity for autonomous driving, advanced driver-assistance systems and infotainment applications.
The Association has the backing of Analog Devices, which has already shipped more than one billion IC units that use its GMSL technology, which provides high-speed video links used in vision systems that provide real-time data for assisted driving.
OpenGMSL is designed to ensure multi-vendor interoperability.
Members of the Association include semiconductor manufacturers, automotive OEMs and suppliers, and other companies from the broader connectivity ecosystem.
It operates as a non-profit with its own board of directors, and all participants must comply with mandatory compliance testing.
