Tim LeTourneau, who was a producer and executive producer at gaming company Maxis and also worked for Zynga, has died, with colleagues paying tribute on social media.
LeTourneau was credited with working on the games SimCity 3000, The Sims, The Sims 2, MySims and FarmVille 2, which have collectively been played by hundreds of millions of people.
Letourneau spoke to VentureBeat in 2010, reflecting on a decade of The Sims, commenting that “it was a result of a very creative team” and highlighting the influence of women designers on the project.
Following his time at EA’s Maxis studio, he joined Zynga and also worked at Storm8 and Warner Bros. Games, before his death over the weekend at the age of just 54.
