Summary
Employees of gaming company ZeniMax, a subsidiary of Microsoft, belonging to the Communications Workers of America (CWA) union, have announced a tentative new contract agreement with Microsoft, after two years of negotiations.
The deal includes increased wages, guaranteed crediting for game developers, protections from arbitrary dismissal, and procedures for workers to contest company decisions.
The agreement also incorporates rules already agreed upon regarding the use of AI in the workplace.
The CWA has reported that the protracted negotiations were due to disagreements over labour practices, including a lack of flexibility around remote working, and Microsoft substituting in-house employees with outsourced workers.
The union members had also voted to authorise a strike in April.
