Summary
Epic Games has revealed it will be launching the Fortnite Data API, giving creators access to data points on the game, including retention and engagement metrics, to help them understand what makes certain types of games successful.
The API includes data on each island, such as total minutes played and peak concurrent player count.
It is hoped the move will provide developers with the information they need to make more profitable gaming titles.
Currently, the new API only applies to Epic’s islands, but from June 9 it will expand to include all creator-made islands.
Developers will not be able to opt out of the data sharing.
