Summary
Video game developer Electronic Arts (EA) has cancelled its planned Black Panther video game, and shut its Cliffhanger Games studio in the process.
It will also lay off members of its mobile and central teams, but hasn’t said how many staff will be affected.
The Black Panther title was one of several games agreed as part of a deal with Marvel, with Iron Man being developed as another.
EA CEO Laura Miele said the decision to axe the Black Panther game and close Cliffhanger was to “sharpen our focus and put our creative energy behind the most significant growth opportunities.”
This comes after a few hundred staff were laid off in April due to the cancellation of a Titanfall game.
