Summary
Nintendo has finally revealed the purpose of the mysterious ‘C’ button on its new Nintendo Switch 2 (OLED model), announcing a feature called GameChat.
GameChat will allow players to communicate with each other using the console’s built-in microphone.
The microphones come with noise filtering for clarity and will soon have the option of video via a new webcam peripheral.
GameChat also offers screen sharing, allowing players to show off gameplay from different titles to friends during calls.
The feature has similarities to Discord and is a bold move for Nintendo, who in the past have required a separate mobile app for voice chat.
Zelda Notes will also be available on the current Switch smartphone app, alongside the normal voice chat features for games like Splatoon 3.
