Private equity firm Regent has acquired TechCrunch from Yahoo for an undisclosed sum, giving TechCrunch its third owner in nine years.
Regent bought Foundry, which owns outlets including PCWorld, Macworld and TechAdvisor, on Thursday.
The acquisition reunited TechCrunch with several of its sister publications that were split between different owners over the years.
TechCrunch had been operated by Verizon until it sold its media portfolio to Apollo Global Management in 2021 for $5bn, which renamed the business Yahoo.
Yahoo will retain a small stake in TechCrunch, alongside its other holdings that include Yahoo Mail, Yahoo Finance and Yahoo News.
