Summary
Apple has filed a lawsuit against former employee Chen Shi, who it claims has stolen trade secrets from the company after he moved to smartphone maker Oppo.
Chen, a former sensor systems architect on the Apple Watch team, allegedly downloaded more than 60 confidential documents onto a USB drive before he left the company, and sent an email to Oppo stating he was “collecting as much information as possible” ahead of his departure.
According to Apple, Chen was part of a team that had developed roadmaps for upcoming health sensor technologies, specifications for ECG sensors, and other detailed design and development documents.
The company said it found messages on Chen’s Apple-issued iPhone that showed Oppo was “aware” of Chen’s actions, and had “agreed” with them.
It is not known whether Chen has responded to the allegations.
