Summary
Microsoft is testing a new feature within its Xbox app which allows users on Windows 11 gaming PCs to install, launch and view third-party applications and storefronts.
The new addition means handheld PC gamers can more easily navigate between applications, and find games and apps outside of the main Microsoft store.
The firm has already been adding Steam, Battle.net, Ubisoft Connect and other PC gaming apps into a unified library inside the Xbox app.
The new “My apps” library supports an aggregated library to make finding, downloading and launching games and apps from multiple sources easier.
Support for more apps is planned for the future, and Microsoft said last year that it wanted to make the Xbox app the “home of PC gaming”.
This latest Xbox app addition follows the integration of Microsoft’s Xbox Gaming Token into the Xbox app, letting gamers across the service and platform accrue Xbox points.
