Microsoft’s new handheld Xbox gaming devices, Xbox Ally, have arrived offering not only the ability to play AAA games but also providing Windows desktop functionality.
After using the console, The Verge said that the company has created an Xbox full-screen experience that essentially takes over for Windows and hides the OS away.
The interface is similar to the current Xbox app on Windows 11 and integrates with the Game Bar, Microsoft’s PC gaming overlay.
Microsoft doesn’t load the desktop wallpaper, the taskbar, or a bunch of other processes that you don’t need for gaming and it’s easy to return to a regular Windows experience.
However, the device is prone to some glitches and bugs that will need ironing out before the official release date in October.
