ESPN’s streaming launch brings a TikTok-like feed and AI commentary

Sports streaming service ESPN is launching a number of new features to its app, including a vertical video feed styled on social media platform TikTok.
The network’s long-awaited live streaming service, set to launch on 21 August, will put all 12 of its linear channels within a single app, with pricing set at $29.99 per month.
From today, users will be able to access features including a personalised feed of short sports clips, as well as a new “SC For You” option delivering tailored versions of SportsCenter using AI-generated voice tracks.
Connectivity between the app on mobile devices and smart TVs will also be available, allowing viewers to access real-time statistics and game highlights, while also enabling the streaming of multiple games simultaneously.
The company also plans further additions and enhancements to the new app over time.
