Summary
According to CFO Tim Stuart, Microsoft is planning to launch a free or low-cost version of its Xbox Cloud Gaming (XCL) service that would be supported by advertising.
Microsoft’s VP of Next Generation, Jason Ronald, has now also hinted at making the service more affordable and accessible.
It is currently only available as part of the Xbox Game Pass Ultimate subscription, which costs $19.99 monthly.
Ronald suggested that Microsoft sees many players using XCL as their primary gaming platform and that this opens up opportunities to make it more affordable and accessible.
This could involve entering new regions or finding new ways to access the service.
It comes as Nvidia is set to announce “major” news about its GeForce Now cloud gaming service at Gamescom.
Nvidia’s service delivers superior performance thanks to PC-powered performance, better bitrates, higher resolution gameplay and lower latency.
