Microsoft is finally improving Windows 11’s dark mode

Summary
Despite Microsoft introducing a dark mode to its Windows 10 operating system in 2016, areas such as the Control Panel, Run prompt, and file properties UI are still stuck in light mode.
However, previews of the forthcoming Windows 11 (due for release later this year) include updated file operation dialogs with a dark theme, suggesting a broader overhaul may be in the works.
Apple, whose macOS has included a consistent dark mode since 2018, is also expected to launch a Liquid Glass redesign of its operating system later in 2021, with a focus on translucency.
This suggests that Microsoft faces stronger competition from Apple in terms of the aesthetics of their respective operating systems.
