Summary

  • The Home Assistant Connect ZWA-2, launched this week for $69, is a 12-inch-tall device that plugs into a Home Assistant system and can connect to any Z-Wave device, including those using the Long Range (LR) spec that can connect devices up to a mile and a half away.
  • The device can control a plug all the way in the bottom of a garden and can be used for sensors, locks, and other low-powered devices to be used in further-flung corners of a property.
  • The device needs to be out in the open to work and therefore may look out of place, however, its large size lets it pick up even the faintest Z-Wave signal and should help make a network more responsive and stable.
