Summary
BMW’s iX3 SUV is to be the first vehicle built on its new ‘Neue Klasse’ platform, offering 400 miles of range from a new higher-capacity battery that can be rapid-charged to 80% in just over 10 minutes.
The new SUV features a range of upgraded electronics, including a supercomputer called the “superbrain”, to power a new driver assist system that works more harmoniously with the driver.
BMW’s new computing platform unifies all traction, stability and electric motor management functions, allowing the car to more quickly and seamlessly manage power to its dual 400hp motors.
The iX3 also offers improved driver monitoring, only taking over when drivers appear distracted or incapacitated, and also allows drivers to override assistance systems by proving they have checked their blind spot.
