Android 16 is here, but its big redesign isn’t ready

Summary
Google has released its latest operating system, Android 16, announcing it will roll out the update initially on Pixel devices.
The update includes Live Updates, enhanced settings for users with hearing aids, and progressed notifications.
However, Google has said that users will have to wait for another update to see Live Updates fully realised.
Support for the new update builds on Samsung’s DeX platform, optimising apps and content for larger-screen devices.
Following a leak last month, Google also announced support for Material 3 Expressive, which features updated icon shapes, type styles, colour palettes and natural, springy animations across the Android interface.
It is anticipated that Google will launch more design updates in the next Android 16 QPR1 Beta 2, as well as a new Android desktop mode in September.
