During an interview with The Wall Street Journal’s Joanna Stern at WWDC 2024, Apple’s SVP of software, Craig Federighi, and SVP of worldwide marketing, Greg Joswiak, explained why the company delayed its improved Siri features.
While it was shown at the event, the technology “didn’t converge in the way, quality-wise, that we needed it to”, according to Federighi, who said Apple wanted the feature to be “really, really reliable” - something it couldn’t achieve in the original launch timeframe.
Joswiak said while the company didn’t want to disappoint customers with the delay, it was vital the feature met Apple’s quality standards.
Federighi told YouTuber iJustine during the conference that while initial results were promising, the company wanted to be the “first” and “do it best” and felt that the automation simply wasn’t at the standard Apple required.
He clarified that the feature would not be arriving until 2026, according to Joswiak’s comments to Tom’s Guide’s Mark Spoonauer.
