Apple punts on Siri updates as it struggles to keep up in the AI race

Summary
After WWDC 2025, in which Apple unveiled new software features, it was noted that the company gave little attention to its AI assistant Siri, merely mentioning that certain promised features were running late.
Apple’s competitors, such as Google and Microsoft, are making swift progress with AI integration into their operating systems, such as with Google’s free access to live feature that allows its assistant to see and respond to images and items on a user’s screen, and Microsoft’s new AI shortcuts in Windows 11.
It has been suggested that Apple’s focus on small functional updates powered by its Apple Intelligence, and its ChatGPT integration, could help it to catch up to competitors in translation and search.
However, it appears that Apple still has some way to go before it competes with its rivals in the AI race.
