Summary
Microsoft has issued a dev channel release to let users try out its new and improved Start menu in Windows 11.
The new feature includes a range of cosmetic and functional adjustments to the interface based on user feedback.
These include a scrollable bar as opposed to a paged selection, the option to remove recommended apps, and the ability to sort all apps into alphabetical order, or group them into categories.
The size of the Start menu will vary depending on the size of the user’s device or monitor, with smaller devices accommodating fewer pins and recommendations.
A new button lets users connect their mobile phones to the interface, while lock screen widgets can be customised by adding, removing or rearranging them.
Additionally, a game controller can now be used to sign in to a device with a PIN, in line with Microsoft’s commitment to improving its operating system for handheld gaming devices.
