Apple launches iPadOS 26 with a new look and way better multitasking

Apple has announced a major update to its iPad range, including a new version of its iPadOS which includes features designed to improve multitasking and increase productivity, such as a new windowing system for running multiple apps on the same screen and a Mac-like preview app for editing PDFs.
It has also revealed a new Vision Pro-inspired liquid glass visual language, which is also rolling out to iOS devices, that is “inspired by the fluidity of liquid metal and the look and feel of glass,” and is intended to make using its devices easier and more intuitive.
Furthermore, the new iPadOS will enable users to fluidly resize app windows and place them anywhere on the screen, and there is a new Journal app and access to Apple’s Games hub.
The new OS is being rolled out to developers from today, with a public beta to follow in July, ahead of a full release in the autumn.
