Summary
During the opening remarks at Apple’s WWDC, a protestor interrupted Craig Federighi’s speech by shouting about Palestine and revealing a keffiyeh beneath his jacket.
His remarks were difficult to make out, but it is believed he claimed to be an Apple employee.
The protest comes in the wake of similar outbursts at Microsoft’s Build Conference, with employees protesting about the company’s alleged persecution of Palestinian developers.
In a separate stunt aiming to highlight the plight of Palestinian people, hackers took over the screens of fifty different Apple Stores to display a message asking users to subscribe to a YouTube video explaining “what Apple does in Palestine”.
The video, which has already been viewed almost 200,000 times, claims that Apple’s products are discriminatory as they do not cater for the needs of Palestinian users.
