Apple has announced that its next significant releases of iOS and macOS, iOS 26 and macOS Tahoe 26, will be available as free updates in the autumn.
Both releases will include a redesigned user interface called ‘Liquid Glass’, which adds transparency to apps and operating elements.
The redesign is inspired by the VisionOS software.
A developer beta for the updates will be available immediately, and a public beta will be available in July.
The autumn launch window is in line with the company’s usual major software release schedule: iOS 18 and macOS Sequoia were released on the same day in September 2024, and iOS 17 and macOS Sonoma were released a few days apart in September 2023.
