Nintendo Switch 2 webcam compatibility: it’s a wild west

Summary
The newly launched Nintendo Switch 2 (OLED model) has a built-in camera, but it has been found to have low-resolution and unflattering angles, leading users to seek alternative webcams.
Many USB-C webcams have been tested and failed to work with the Switch 2 console, whereas some USB-A cameras from as far back as the original Switch’s launch are working.
The list of working webcams includes the official Nintendo Switch 2 Camera, as well as several Logitech webcams, including the C920, C922, C270, and Brio 300.
Obsbot Meet SE, DJI Osmo Pocket 3, and iPhone with specific connections are reportedly working with the console, but many other webcams, including those from Logitech, Anker, Dell, Insta360, and Opal do not work.
An investigation is ongoing into why some USB-C cameras are not compatible.
