Virtual conference FediForm offered a glimpse into the future of the fediverse, the decentralized social networking ecosystem that includes platforms such as Mastodon and PeerTube.
Three new apps were showcased at the conference that promise to expand the fediverse.
Bonfire Social is a framework for creating digital communities, each with its own style and governance.
It federates with Mastodon, PeerTube, Mobilizon and others, and is available for installation now.
Channel.org allows users to curate the content they see across the open social web, tracking specific hashtags and users and blocking certain keywords and mute accounts.
It is currently in an invite-only beta, but users can sign up for a waitlist for updates.
Bounce allows users to move their Bluesky account to Mastodon, retaining all their followers.
It is built by A New Social, the creators of a bridging tool that enables the connection of Bluesky accounts to Mastodon.
