After years of mostly rehashed designs, Microsoft has finally managed to produce a small and lightweight Surface that combines the best aspects of its previous tablets with the best features from competitors.
The 12-inch Surface Pro, which starts at $799, manages to fit a lot of power and impressive battery life into a fanless design that’s both thinner and lighter than rival offerings from Apple and Samsung.
The optional stylus and keyboard accessories have also been improved, offering a more laptop-like experience despite being a tablet.
The main drawbacks are a somewhat disappointing user experience in tablet mode and display bezels that are arguably too thick for a premium device in 2023.
But for anyone who has always wanted a genuinely portable Windows tablet for work or leisure, this is the one to buy.
