Summary
Customers of US tech giant Samsung have been warned that if they have not used their accounts for two years, they face deletion of their data when a new policy comes into force on July 31.
The accounts of family members, those with reward points and those used to purchase Samsung products will be considered active and exempt from the policy, according to the tech giant.
To avoid deletion, accounts only need to show some activity, such as logging in or using a linked service while signed in.
However, after the retention period ends, any deleted data cannot be restored.
The information can only be retained in accordance with legal requirements.
