Meta reportedly sidelined ‘Quest 4’ designs for a goggles-like mixed-reality headset

Summary
According to reports, Meta is pushing ahead with plans for a lightweight mixed-reality headset nicknamed Puffin, which is now expected to ship at the end of 2026, delayed from an originally planned date of late 2025.
Two Quest 4 headsets, Pismo Low and Pismo High, which were expected in 2025, may now be cancelled, meaning another Quest headset may not be released for some time.
The new device will be powered by a “tethered compute puck” and will be primarily aimed at productivity and entertainment rather than gaming.
It is believed the headset will run HorizonOS and will be controlled by gestures and eye movements, rather than with controllers, further differentiating it from Meta’s gaming-focused Quest Pro.
