Blink’s budget buzzer gets some worthwhile upgrades
1 min read
Summary
Amazon’s Blink has launched its second-generation video doorbell, which it claims offers a head-to-toe view of visitors to a user’s front door as well as higher image resolution.
The doorbell’s aspect ratio has been changed to 1:1, meaning it offers a more square view than its predecessor.
It also comes with person detection, triggered by on-device computer vision rather than the cloud, although this does require a $3 monthly subscription.
As with the original model, the doorbell has two-year battery life and also features on-demand live view and two-way audio.
However, it lacks colour night vision and its motion-activated recording is limited to 30-second clips.
The new Blink Video Doorbell is available for purchase on Amazon for 69.99withtheSyncModuleCoreor59.99 as a standalone device.
