The ‘beige Amazon influencer’ lawsuit is headed for dismissal

Summary
A lawsuit filed by two US-based Amazon influencers, Sydney Nicole Sloneker and Alyssa Sheil, which made headlines last year due to the unsettling similarity of the women’s online personas, has been dropped.
Both women asked a judge this week to dismiss the case, which has ran for more than a year and pitted the two women, who have nearly one million followers each on Amazon-owned video platform TikTok, against each other.
At the heart of the lawsuit was the question of who owns an online persona, and whether influencer content is art, as well as the issue of social media algorithms creating online clones.
Sheil’s legal team said Sheil will pay nothing for Sloneker’s claims, and will continue to make Amazon-related content.
