Google’s new Drive features are designed to give users more information about the videos they have saved.
The expansion of its AI-based Gemini tool now makes it possible for users to gain an insight into video files without having to watch them in full.
Through a familiar chatbot interface, the tool can summarise footage or pull out specific information.
It is possible to ask Gemini to list action items, or highlight major updates and products in announcement videos, thereby saving time spent manually watching and note-taking.
The feature does require videos to have captions and is currently available to Google Workspace and Google One AI Premium users, or those who have previously purchased Gemini Business or Enterprise add-ons.
It is also rolling out the ability to show engagement data for Drive videos, and users will now be able to see how many times a video has been opened within the Analytics section of the Detail panel.
