Summary
WhatsApp for iPad has launched, more than 15 years after the messaging service and the iPad launched.
The app is available to download from the Apple App Store and supports many of the same features as the iPhone version, but is also compatible with iPad features such as Stage Manager.
Users will be able to join audio and video calls with up to 32 people, use both the rear and front device cameras, and share their screen with other call participants.
The app’s arrival follows comments made by WhatsApp head Will Cathcart in 2022, when he said that the company would “love” to create a native iPad experience.
There are also rumours that Meta is developing an Instagram app for iPad, optimised for the larger display.
