Microsoft employee bypasses ‘Palestine’ block to email thousands of staff in protest

Summary
Nisreen Jaradat, a senior engineer at Microsoft, sent an email to thousands of colleagues on 23 May with the subject line “You can’t get rid of us”, in spite of a block on emails mentioning Palestine, Gaza or genocide.
She wrote in the email that she was “fed up” with Microsoft’s treatment of Palestinian people, and urged employees to sign a petition calling on the company to end contracts with the Israeli government.
Microsoft has not commented on how Jaradat got around the block, but said in a statement that mass emailing colleagues about non-work topics is “not appropriate”.
The company also said it had taken measures to reduce such emails to those who had not opted in.
This week, Microsoft employees, along with former employees and other protesters, have disrupted the Build developer conference on several days, including disrupting keynotes and sessions.
