Summary

  • Sportswear giant Nike is set to start selling products directly on Amazon, after a six year absence, whilst also planning price increases from 1 June on most of its sneakers and clothing amid US tariffs.
  • The company previously stopped selling on the platform in 2019, blaming Amazon’s failure to combat counterfeits and unlicensed sellers, as well as its desire to focus on its own direct-to-consumer sales.
  • Since then, Nike products have only been available on Amazon from third-party sellers, but the company has now told those merchants that they have until 19 July to stop selling some Nike items.
  • The price rises will affect adult clothing and shoes priced at over 2 and $10, although cheaper items and children’s products will be unaffected.
