CEOs of tech firms are using AI avatars to replace themselves in earnings calls, says a report in techcrunch.com this week.
Klarna CEO and co-founder Sebastian Siemiatkowski featured in an AI-driven 83-second video reporting Q1 2025 results.
Zoom CEO Eric Yuan also deployed an AI version of himself for the company’s Q1 2026 earnings call, however, he joined the live Q&A in human form.
The article argues that while it might be a preliminary application of generative AI, it might be the beginning of a new mode of corporate communication, with significant implications for corporate affairs, and investor and public relations.
Meanwhile, the human Yuan showed up for the live Q&A portion of the call, though.
“I truly love my AI-generated avatar,” he said while responding to the first question.
“I think we are going to continue using that. I can tell you — I like that experience a lot.
