3D Instagram photos are coming to Meta Quest headsets

Summary
Facebook parent company Meta is rolling out a trial of 3D photos on Instagram for users of its Quest virtual reality (VR) headsets, which will give “a sense of depth” to both 3D and 2D images.
The AI-powered feature works by converting flat images into an immersive 3D format using algorithms, meaning no additional hardware is required for users.
The test will begin this week, but only a select number of users will have access to 3D photos on their quests initially.
The new feature is being rolled out as part of the v77 update, which also includes a new “navigator” feature giving users quick access to recently used apps, as well as the combining of several apps into one.
