Google has released details of its new “SynthID Detector” tool, which the firm said will help creators to detect AI-generated content made using Google AI.
The new detector will scan audio, video, images and text for a watermark identifying Google’s AI tools, highlighting the areas most likely to be synthetic.
Google said the tool will be made available to testers, before a wider roll-out in the future.
The announcement came as the company also detailed other AI tools at its Google I/O conference, including an chatbot built using LaMDA technology, which will operate on Google’s Messages app.
Google also said its AI model Bard, designed to help produce text suggestions for users, will be launched “with partners” next year.
