Google I/O annual conference took place in Mountain View, California, this week, where the company showcased its new project, codenamed Mariner, and its new Android XR smart glasses prototypes, along with Galaxy andmonitoring app forhealth devices.
Android XR generates a lot of excitement, and according to one source it offers a ‘more convincing example of why someone would want this tech’; however, the author laments that it is difficult to convey the excitement of smart glasses, as renders and video footage do not do justice to the experience.
The smart glasses offer a 3D depth in a standard video, and allow the user to take a photo or video, with a display that enables the user to frame their image.
The author observes that Google offered shorter and safer demos at the event than in December, with more tightly controlled guardrails; this was because of the presence of cameras and the risk of failing to deliver the expected results in front of the press.
