Bloomberg has published a report detailing Apple’s ongoing struggles with its Siri-based AI offering, Apple Intelligence (AI).
It seems the tech giant has realised bolting AI onto its pre-existing Siri has not been successful.
Apple is now embarking on a total Siri overhaul, building a new LLM (large language model) based engine for a more realistic conversational experience that can better synthesise information.
Part of this new approach includes leveraging iPhone data to improve synthesised data, and using LLM-based Siri on the web to search for and synthesise data from multiple sources.
However, the report suggests Apple AI head John Giannandrea, who brought much of his team over from Google, is on a path to retirement as he has been removed from product development, Siri and robotics projects.
