Patreon’s iOS update allows creators to bypass in-app purchases

Summary
Patreon has enabled creators in the US to accept payments via the web rather than through Apple’s App Store after the recent Epic v Apple ruling.
The ruling meant that Apple can no longer impose fees on purchases made outside of its apps.
As a result, Patreon’s 125.5.0 update on iOS now includes web payment options via Apple Pay, credit cards, Venmo and PayPal.
At present, the new payment options are limited to fans buying new memberships and creators using the subscription billing model, but the company is working on including one-off payments.
The ruling is a significant moment for creators, according to Patreon, as it continues to campaign for a future where creators are in control and can professionally create without hindrance.
