I Got an AI to Impersonate Me and Teach Me My Own Course—Here’s What I Learned About the Future of Education

Summary
Using an off-the-shelf ChatGPT tool hosted on the Azure-based Nebula One platform, Dr Alex Connock asked an AI agent to play the role of him, an Oxford lecturer on media and AI, and teach him a personal master’s course based on his own work.
With access to all of Connock’s own multimedia output, the AI created a well-structured, six-module journey into his work that he’d never devised but admitted he would have liked to.
Built on what Connock does know, it taught him about additional tools, like Nuke, a professional tool used to combine and manipulate visual effects in The Avengers, which Connock had never heard of.
This experience and others highlight the inevitability of real-time AI formal incorporation into school and university teaching, and the increasing importance of the human teacher as AI becomes more central to education.
